β-PINENE
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Category:Natural
β-Pinene is a naturally occurring bicyclic monoterpene isomer of α-pinene, characterized by its fresh, woody-pine aroma with distinctively drier, resinous notes compared to its alpha counterpart. As a key component of conifer resins (especially pine and fir), it also appears in rosemary, hops, and citrus oils. This versatile compound is commercially available as (±)-β-pinene or in enantiomerically pure forms [(+)- or (−)-β-pinene], each offering unique functional properties for advanced applications.
APPLICATIONS:
Fragrance & Flavor Industry
- Perfumery: Provides crisp, forest-like top notes in air fresheners, detergents, and masculine colognes.
- Flavoring: Food-grade additive (FCC) for enhancing pine, mint, and spice profiles (e.g., chewing gum, beverages).
Chemical Synthesis
- Key Intermediate: Precursor for synthetic myrcene, linalool, and flavor/fragrance compounds.
- Polymer Chemistry: Co-monomer in terpene-based resins and adhesives.
Pharmaceuticals & Nutraceuticals
- Bioactive Agent: Studied for anti-inflammatory, bronchodilatory, and antimicrobial effects.
- Terpene Blends: Enhances skin permeability in transdermal drug delivery systems.
Cannabis & Terpene Formulations
- Strain Profiling: Recreates "indica-like" earthy notes in cannabis distillates and vape liquids.
Agrochemicals
- Green Solvent: Carrier for botanical pesticides and herbicides.
- Insect Repellent: Active component in eco-friendly pest control products.

Use | The most important use of β-pinene is the thermal cleavage into micrene, and then from micrene as the starting material, dozens of fragrances with high value can be synthesized, such as Linalool, Geraniol, Neraniol, Lilal and Isocyclemone-E. Refined β-pinene can be used in the formulation of daily fragrances and other industrial products for flavoring, the amount of which is within 2%. There are no restrictions imposed by IFRA. |
